Makes you wonder what alarm system they had installed if any!
When I was in the Fire and Rescue service - I remember having to put out a firefighter before going to a fire - he hit the pole and box of non-safety matches ignited in his shirt pocket (he was a smoker in more ways than one). Luckily there was a hose-reel near the bottom of the pole. It left him with a burn mark around his left nipple. That's got to hurt!

I wonder if this affects the good name of the College especially as it advertises Fire Risk Assessment training.

Would it now put people off signing up for training there?

The type of alarm system does not really matter as the alarm was sounded somehow, it's the point of having a fire that counts here.

Do you think the Local Fire Authority will issue an enforcement notice as the current FRA surely can not be suitable and sufficient, can it?

I think it may take some time to shake this embarrassing event.
