In 1989/1990 at Canary Wharf, a fire retardant was used on steels. Does any one remember what it was made of.

It was certainly a foam of some description and when dry and abraded caused clouds of dust.

Can't help you on Canary Wharf but we've used Chartek paints on many a structural steelwork. A search on Google should find it for you.

You could try asking the original architects - they should have retained their design specifications for the buildings - I think the project would have been called "One Canada Square".

They are Pelli Clarke Pelli and their website is:

You should contact Canary Wharf management, they must have the details under CDM, ref: the H & S File.

On DS1 / 2 I know it was grey, like a rockwool and sprayed on.
