I have just been reading an article on union reps black list in the IOSH bulletins. This is stopping union reps from getting jobs on which they are fully qualified and entitled to have.
Union reps do a great job in the workplace and put a lot of work and commitment into what they do. What a lot of people dont realize is they dont get paid any extra for this they do to see justice is done for there fellow members.If there are any people out there who are using these black lists for union reps i cant write what i would like but contact me and i will tell you personally shame on all doing it.

Well said Jervis.
I started my H&S profesion as a safety Rep.
I only get a lookin at the lower salery levels. if try for anything over 22k I dont get a lookin.

I find it very annoying considering its a well known fact that that safety reps do such a good job and safe these companies a lot of money and time. All you safety reps out there keep up the good work.

John if unions do become illegal then it will be a sad day and lots of managers and directors getting away with murder in the work place in more ways than one!!!!

And who has the HSE just re-employed (even though his company is not named in the blacklist report), he must have been aware of it.
Yet the populace never heard any rumblings from him in 2006 even though this apparently has been going on for years.
Being in charge of a huge company must have made him aware of the "goings on" so why did he not "rock the boat"
What are his qualifications in H & S to enable him to attain the is position?
What is his agenda?
Who from the HSE actually interviewed him and gave him the job?
This person is very competent in the field of acquiring work and costs, I would not have thought he was very interested in making projects more expensive to carry out.

I started as a rep also, but ommitted this in my CV to get a job, just put down my expierence.
Its a very sad case that I had to do it!

Sorry to go on about this but i would be intrested in any Union health and safety reps who have found it difficult getting jobs.
