Posted By Tanya Boyce I would appreciate any input on the issue of duty of care for an air cadet squadron (I know there are other ATC bods on here so your experiences are also very welcome).
The squardon has a duty of care to the cadets from the moment they arrive at the buildings until they return to their front door or are picked up by parents. As a city squardon we have a number of cadets who walk home or cycle back in the evenings.
We insist that if cycling home they much wear a helmet and High vis plus have working lights, where possible a member of staff is outside to check as cadets leave.
Is there anything else we can do to ensure we meet the duty of care and what records if any do we need to keep?
Thanks in advance.

Posted By Kenneth Patrick I am intrigued as to why you would ask this question in a Health & Safety context. Also I would have thought that if there were issues then the Air Cadet Organisation nationally would have guidelines.

Posted By graeme12345 Tanya, I would have thought your duty of care applies when they arrive, and when they actually leave the premises, not after they have left.
Keep RA's and FRA's (tests certs for Ext's)/ PAtest cert's for all electrical equipment / records of any tests carried out on the electrical system of the premises / first aider and accident forms / site induction records or rules and procedures that all should follow / copy of insurance details
