Posted By ktnancie Good afternoon all, I am looking for some advice regarding dust sampling. We are a limestone masonry firm and we are looking at doing our own dust sampling and sending of to a company, rather than getting an advisor in, mainly due to costs and also so we can monitor who is being tested. Can anyone recommend a company who can issue the sample equipment and test samples? Kind regards

Posted By Paul Leadbetter Kelly Can you (the company not you personally) prove your competence to carry out the monitoring you require? If not, you really should be using a competent occupational hygienist; you can find one here: http://www.bohs.org/reso...ame/1310/Web_edition.pdf Paul

Posted By holmezy kt, as per Paul's comment. The other thing to realise is that a big chunk of the cost associated with dust monitoring is the lab costs. Then you have to be "competent" to interpret the report and make it into something usable. Cant you ask the occy hygenist to set up in the morning, then go away and do something else, then return to collect the pumps to reduce costs? Holmezy

Posted By Paul Leadbetter Holmezy Since the observation of work practices is an integral part of any occupational hygiene survey, no hygienist worth his or her salt is going to agree to that. Paul

Posted By ktnancie Thank you for comments and to Fred who has recommended a local company to me. I have spoken previously with past testers and they have even suggested to us that we can do the sampling ourselves, and as mentioned this is something we're just looking at doing. If totally not possible we will use a firm to come in and do this for us. Regards K.T
