See my note 'Holiday', like me they're lost as to where everything is! It's like when my wife (bless her) decides to have a tidy up, you can never find what you're looking for.

PS: Where's the spell checker?

For a new super forum, it is not very user friendly. Getting a tad frustrated now!

Doesn't help that all the cached search engine links to the old forums give a page not found error, so the newbies who used to stumble in are getting lost before they even see the door. Google for "iosh forums" and the top links are all dead.

(btw - anyone else getting really peeved the "remember me" option doesn't work?)

i must admit i am not finding it as easy to navigate the new system, and agree with the last posting about the "remember me" feature when logging in, prehaps thats the reason why the forum seems to have gone very quiet?
i am sure after a short while that everything will return to normal, and the new site will thrive.

Hi Luke - what are you having trouble with? Feel free to email refreshing@iosh.co.uk or send me a PM. Thanks, Tom

Hi - the links in Google should start working again over the next week or so - at the moment they'll be point to an 'HTTP 404 - File not found' page. I'll take a look at the 'remember me' tool. Thanks, Tom

Has anyone tried to modify their personal details yet? I just tried with no luck, it let me tick boxes but not change a phone no. Plenty of bugs to iron out it would appear. Just thought if you've changed from the allocated name but want to change again, how do you do that? Where's the spacing when you put a paragraph in?

I got the 'HTP 404 - Page not found' message too, Tom, when I clicked on my IOSH Forums link button in Internet Explorer - so I went to the main IOSH site, used the link to the forums there and added the page to my IE link buttons.

I'm also reading:

'Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Error: (DNS) - click the back button to try another link'

under the reply box in which I am now typing.

also the old forums had a quick tick box, for an email to be sent, for if someone replied to the topic you had given a message to, doesn't seem as easy now, unles I am missing something simple (could be)

also no pop up boxes here either, and nor are we on IE8, had recent problems with another organisation who had their web pages i needed accesss to operating on IE8 and of course our IT stuff is networked from a main server with older software as it is probably more stable in a large networked organisation, so couldn't gain access, wonder if this is the same problem as I am unable to alter names as well or get update boxes

and its probably quiet as already mentioned, cos even though I am fairly tuned with IT software etc, this is a completely changed way of things working and I struggle at times and also people are trying to change their names etc, as the swap over didnt keep my original forum name so presume others are in same boat.

Also just noticed there's no line at bottom of page 'RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE' to return you to the top when on a long forum subject like this one.

just found the link to have an email forwarded if someone replies on your topic you have posted to, for those of us who can't be logged on all day.

at top of topic page there is an options box which gives the option to 'watch' a topic, if clicked this then sends an email to indicate a posting on the topic

But the tick box was easier on old forum, this adds another 2 / 3 steps for same outcome

Well I know I am awaiting new glasses, but I can't see a Watch Topic tick box...

And Morgan, we can no longer stay logged in all day as I used to as the system automatically logs you out if you have been inactive for 15 minutes.

I have previously suggested a Kepp me logged in switch, but have not had any response to that.

I am not unimpressed by the new forums, but I think we have lost some useful features and have not gained many new ones that we were expecting.

its not a tick box anymore, which was easier

on the top line of the topic, on the right hand side there is an 'options' in black bold, click here, gives you an option to 'watch a topic' click this then a pop up box comes up informing you will have email if a reply on this topic occurs

this also ends up on your main mydetails page where there isa abox to maange/watch 'topics'

If your reading a topic and your not logged in and you want to reply, you have to go to the top of the page click on log in, then find the topic again, thats not good, why cant we have a "Reply" button from the initial thread which would then send you to log in then once logged in back to the thread you were viewing.......

Still having problems logging in. Appears I can only do it via the MyIOSH page. Any other set of boxes don't know me.

The remember me function doesn't seem to work anymore, however this has recently happened on other sites I use regularly.

Layout is similar to other discussion forums I use, but the add-ons don't seem to work as well.

If it logs me out after 15mins of inactivity and doesn't remember me I can't see me using it very often.

What IOSH should have done was used the old forum as the basis and then added in what us members wanted on the new forum. A simple questionnaire would have done the trick Im sure....

Has anyone found where the IOSH gift pages are yet?

Further to my back to top, is there a drop to bottom for long threads and if not can the web team insert one this late in the day? It would certainly reduce MSD in scrolling down each time when following a thread.

Its probably quiet as i have just had royal nightmare loggin on.
I usually use my Email and a password from the homepage. This was setup on the new site for Myiosh. this option never appeared so i hit the forum button and tried to login that way.
After several attempts, i realised that it was the same username and password from the old forum that it was after.

In short you have to ask the question, if it wasnt broken before, why try to fix it?

cheers

Hi SPR

We ran a 'new website survey' in March 2008 to find out what members wanted on the new site and forums. We also used forum users (both IOSH members and non-members) and moderators to help us with the forums functional specification. We also involved forum users and moderators in forum testing.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi - this is a security feature for the whole site and makes it safer for you if you leave you computer unattended.

Thanks,
