Hi
I have filled out my CHAS registration & due to a None Compliance - I have been asked what do we do to make arrangements for European and other foriegn workers to ensure we can consult with these workers on matters relating to Health & Safety.
What should I be doing to be able to comply ?
Thanks
Alan

Training on everything so they understand the processes, this may mean hiring a translator or translating the training literature

Have a look on the HSE website, there is some stuff on there about migrant workers.

Depending upon the numbers involved you might want to use multi-lingual safety signs too.

Taken from the guidance on the CHAS web site:
CDM 2007 ACoP 245 requires employers to ensure involvement of the entire workforce, contractors may need to make special arrangements for workers who have little or no understanding of English, or who cannot read English. These could include providing translation, using interpreters or replacing written notices with clearly understood symbols or diagrams.

I answer that question thus; We have suitable linguists on site and / or available as needed
The above is true as its quite easy to have linguists available as there appears to be plenty around and I have made arrangements etc - Its when people arrrive that you were not expecting that things become hard to manage
