Posted By Tim Davies This is my first days visit to this forum and I'm impressed so far. However what astounds me is the lack of discussion about violence at work or is this an indication of the feelings of people to this subject in general? If there anyone other professionals with interest in such issues, let me know, it seems like there are very few of us!

Posted By Ed Carter Tim, I'm sure it has been discussed in the past. It may be in the 'Old Forum' archives. Working in an FE/HE College, it is an area we have to keep our eye on. Ed

Posted By Philip McAleenan Hi Tim, I wouldn't despair on the matter. There are others "out there" who have been working in the area of violence at work for a long time. I myself have done some work over the years both as a manager and as a safety consultant on this issue. Issues such as individual violence (from disgruntled clients/customers), criminal violence (robberies) and even politically motivated and sectarian violence have been part and parcel of many practitioners experience in N.Ireland and many people have developed good policies, programmes, and training in respect of these areas. If you have any specific areas that you want to raise for discussion now I'd be happy to participate. Philip
