Webster Bennett Vertical Borers and Interlocks

Good Afternoon, Can anyone offer a sollution to the issue of interlocks on Webster Bennett vertical boring machines? We have 5 of these that we are mid-way through installing new guarding on, and have to have these interlocked for when the gates are open. The issues we have is that although 3 of these are hydraulic, the other 2 are mechanical, which means they can not stop quickly, and stopping any of these tables quickly could be disasterous for the table and the load on it. Any ideas? (please don't quote regulations at me, I am aware of these, but I figured that there are a lot of these machines out there and perhaps someone has already discovered a solution to the problem). Thanks.

Timer on the interlock i.e. push stop starts a timer which is set for longer than the run down period after which the interlock releases allowing the gate to open.

As has been suggested a simple request to enter function on the guard interlocks would suffice.
Just remember that the electrical safety funciton needs to be in accordance with ISO 13849-1 & validatred to -2, so that means compliance with EN 60204-1. Your guarding will need to comply with ISO 14120 too.
It's not quite as simple as bolting guarding on remember if you are going to comply with the law.
