Hi What certification and legislation shoul a lifting eye/lug, welded onto the part itself comply with, please? I'm a new SQE trying to play peace keeper. Tia

Should be done by a coded welder then sent for inspection-testing to what you need it to be suitable four ie x times the load expected then needs to be ispected regually and also you need manucfactures agreement you can weld something onto his item OH yes you should also have designed the item to be welded on correctly. All have a proto call to follow to ensure its not just a bit of steel welded on

The loler approved code of practice and guidelines says "equipment and operations not covered by loler; eyebolts permanently fixed to the load (these form part of the load) So, am I right that these regs don't apply if the lug/eye is actually part of the item? This would explain why all the regs I can find refer to cranes and equipment and slings,etc. It would need testing and NDT, as well as the welder being qualified which code is this?) I understand this, but You say protocol, which protocol is this? Thanks
