Hi All,

Currently defining how we manage Vibration and we are currently using the HSE Points System. What I am looking for is what levels your company sets at the maximum amount of points per day.

100 is the point at which you start taking action and 400 is the maximum limit. I know some companies do not allow any person to excede 100 points a day.

What does your company do and/or what are your feelings? I would push for 100 but for smaller sites this does limit how much work can be carried out, so the Safety Manager in me says 100 but the Support the operation side as we still need to make money says we could go to 200.

Thank you

Note: we have reduced the need to use the tools as much as we can, moved to low vibration tools (electric or battery opperated), work rotation (not always possible when a small site) etc

We go for ALARP but stop work once the employees daily score is more than 300 points. (400 point is the equivalent of the the legal exposure limit)

thanks 1 user thanked A Kurdziel for this useful post.

Some areas of our business, such as horticultural work, mean it is extremely difficult to keep daily exposure below 100 points. We have set our own limit of 375 points-no employee can exceed this in a day.

If you expose people above 100 points you MUST provide Health Surviellance and you must never exceed 400 points ever!!

So in answer to your question, yes you can expose people above 100 points.

If you can stick to less than 100 happy days, or you can save your points up and have a weekly exposure
