Morning All,

Can anyone provide some guidance please on any rules around the installtion of emergency lighting on scaffolding handrails. The lighting is a two fold exercise to illuminate the working platforms at night (the scaffold is used at night) to assist a safe escape as well as to highlight where the edges of the working platforms are to prevent falls from height.

Can we install bulkehead lights along the handrails or could this be deemed to be tampering with work at height equipment?

thanks 1 user thanked Frank1970 for this useful post.

As long as there is no additional risk then what is the problem, you need to see!!

You would have to ensure earthing though.

I am a Crane Slinger and work on a variety of building sites, so I understand the problems, I would check with the Site Manager before ordering anything, as some sites have both light and work noise exclusions, having work lighting may breach local council agreements.

Its not emergency lighting if its for normal occupancy use.

I would question how your plans were signed off - considerate contractors don't work at night in domestic areas and light pollution may have significant environmental impact upon protected species.

Could really do with a bit more context
