Possibly a daft question but do many organisations have seperate Occupational H&S managers and Environmental H&S managers? We used to just have an Occupational H&S manager but we now also have an Environmental H&S manager. I'm a little confused as to the difference between the two and where the line is drawn?

Depends upon the size, maturity and profitability of the organisation as to how many specialists and support staff they can afford.

Good businesses used to post announcements explaining who new people are, where they fit wthin the organisation and what their role is envisaged to be.

Interesting - a rose by any other name.  I am officially Health, Safety and Training Manager but in practice I deal with security, facilities management, environmental management and all shades of everything in between as well of course as the traditional day job.  I now need a fork lift truck to move my business cards around for me!!

Undoubtly the world has changed.  I used to be a H&S Coordinator for a multi-national company, then moved onto be a risk management consultant (sounds grand).  Now I am getting on a bit I work part time for a plant hire company as their Compliance Manager, the plan was that I would look after health, safety and environmental matters with a bit of training thrown in. Now I am looking after HSE, training, quality, a bit of HR and wellbeing and any thing else that is sent my way. Don't get me wrong I am not complaining, infact, it is a rewarding job and is keeping my brain going.  But as has been said before, the world has changed and there are new roles for some and additional tasks for others.  I guess in our world we have always been specalists in our own field and a bit of jacks of all trades in others.
