Good afternoon all.

It's a long story but I am trying find out when Chromium IV was first given a Workplace Exposure Limit.

Does anyone know how to find out when a chemical was first (the date) introduced to EH40?

Cheers,

Pre-1994 I would deduce based on that being referenced in the following:

http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/mdhs/pdfs/mdhs52-3.pdf

"Schedule 1 of the COSHH Regulations specifies a maximum exposure limit (MEL) of 0.05 mg m-3, 8-hour time-weighted average reference period, for chromium (VI) compounds (as Cr). This limit is reproduced in HSE Guidance Note EH 40 and the criteria on which it is based are documented in HSE Guidance Note EH 64."

And before that in COSHH 1994:

https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1994/3246/schedule/1/made

But not in 1988:

Same question, same poster, slightly later time - it would appear whatever caused the post name to hang cleared

...if you want to go even farher back...the first report outlining cases of cancer related to this was posted in the Glasgow Medical journal in 1890....what is the background to the question?
