After 2 hours of phone calls with CSCS, CITB, and Construction Online, it has been established that they do not recognise in any shape or form Nebosh National Certificate. They do recognise Nebosh National Construction Certificate. This seems perplexing to me (as a holder of Nebosh National Cert) as it's mostly covering construction. Has anyone else with Nebosh National Cert had this problem?

Their card, their rules I'm afraid.  There is a full list on their website of what they will and won't accept.

I too, have recently come across that little hurdle, Skill Card require an applicate to pass a H&S test (as with CSCS) but if you have completed SSSTS or SMSTS within the last 3years you dont have to sit the H&S test, but me with NEBOSH NGC and is employed as a QHSE advisor (for the last 5years) is required to sit the H&S test for a card. Very odd indeed.

If I recall correctly my Masters in OSH and IOSH chartered membership status did not make any difference either - just a cash cow.

And why do you "need" this card - the issuers have made clear they wish to focus on true construction skills so are eliminating the visistor card.

Unless you are working in construction there is no need for the card.

Never even been asked in many years of site visits monitoring our employees - even happier now I do not need to waste money for recognition of simple skills below my education.

@ Roundtuit - I am working in construction which is why I need a CSCS card. It's a requirement of the large construction site I'm on.

If your work activity is more than H&S you will need to find an alternative access to the card (the recent discussion above is pertinent) - Nebosh certificate really is nothing to do with Construction Skills hence not being accepted.

Otherwise you will need to find something CSCS accept for Professionally Qualified Persons to access the site as an H&S bod.

I too was annoyed many years ago by the lack of acceptance of the National so ended up with a site visitor card = now I just point the site foreman to the relevant web site in those rarest of events they bother asking.

Indeed Roundtuit, but it is symptomatic of an industry that lacks any common sense and makes us a laughng stock.

If you just want access to the construction worksite, then you can get a Green labourers card.
