Derisk is a small but well established organisation who requires new talent to support our growth. The role of CDM / Health & Safety Consultant is to provide competent and proportionate advice and support to our existing and prospective clients. Our senior management team require support to deliver high quality CDM / Principal Designer, Railway, Security and general H&S services across varied sites, locations, and organisations. This role is predominantly home based, with frequent days at our head office in Westminster, London. Travel across sites will be required, primarily across London and the Home Counties but also across the UK and Europe. All travel and sundries are fully expensed. We would consider applications for part-time hours above a minimum of 3 full days per week. Additional training courses and schemes are actively encouraged and fully funded. Skills and Abilities - A relevant professional qualification e.g., NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Construction certificates necessary. NVQ level 3 in OSH also acceptable. Preferred at least two years’ experience.
- Technical member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health or Associate of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
- Experience of acting as a Principal Designer / CDM Advisor
- Construction industry exposure is essential, rail & security industry would be beneficial
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge politely and constructively. Construction site inspection / auditing and reporting experience is a must.
- Presentation and client-facing experience and skills.
- Effective team working and networking skills, and the ability to work independently using own initiative.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload.
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and its application in a public-sector environment particularly CDM 2015 & HASWA.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)
- Driving license and own vehicle
Other desired skills / abilities People Management, Analysis of Information, Reporting Research Results, Design Risk Management, Architectural Design Technical Understanding, Promoting Process Improvement, Developing Standards, Managing Processes, Construction Methods and Procedures, Dealing with Complexity, Problem Solving, Process Improvement. Tasks - Liaison with senior management to undertake works as directed.
- Act as Network Rail Competent Person for maintenance and minor project submissions as directed by senior management.
- Act as Principal Designer / CDM Advisor for projects, assisting senior management as required (i.e., design risk reviews, compilation of pre-construction information packs and H&S files, review of RAMS and construction phase plans.)
- Invoice trackers – follow up on obtaining POs, etc.
- Weekly/monthly reports for clients as requested / required.
- Typing and formatting reports via Microsoft Office suite of products as required.
- General document control responsibilities.
