Regulations for training climbing towers in the workplace

Hi All, is anybody aware of what regulations or British Standards the construction and installation of a steel climbing tower should abide by? If employees are set to work training on said tower which is approx ten metres, and they are abseiling from it, are there specified regulations other than Work at Height Regs and LOLER Regs that should be taken into consideration? I am not sure about inspections of structure other than anchor points every 6 months. Should it be set into the ground to a certain ratio to the height of the tower (to allow of momentum when abseiling)? Should it be positioned so far away from the wall? Should there be exclusion zones on the ground? Aware that vehicles should be away from the structure when in use, but should there be a permanent exclusion zone to prevent collision and compromise to the structure? Thanks for any advice, as I can only find climbing activity in a leisure scenario.

Hi Andy Assuming that this is a tower in Great Britain built in the last couple of decades or still to be built these are all issues that should have been considered by the Designers and others to comply with the "CDM" Regulations - Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 or 2007 or 2015. This tower would fall within the CDM definition of a "structure" and hence come complete with a "health and safety file" which might or might include an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Manual or be cross-referenced to the O&M Manual. What the foundations might need to be would depend on numerous variables including ground conditions. So, that aspect would need engineering consideration. Who is responsible for this structure? What do they have in the way of documentation?

Hi Peter, thank you for your response. The installation is being completed by another company within a shared occupancy building. I have questions regarding install but want to ensure I am presenting the right facts about being compliant.
