We are looking to convert a disuesd container (one that sits on the back of a wagon) in to a welding room / area. Has anyone done this before? My instant thought are I would rather not but we've nowhere else for welding to go. My initial thought are with the doors shut this could become a confined space, extraction, lone working, PPE, lighting, electrics and maintenance.
Anything anyone else would like to add.......????

Damage to contents through "sweating" where moisture in the deckboards (or from leaks) gets turned to vapour by elevated temperatures. Potential for a lock-in as the closure mechanism is on the outside with no access from within. Noise from acoustically reflective surfaces and rainfall / hail

Thermal comfort, extremes of heat in the summer and cold during the winter. I’m sure I have seen on old war films they used to put people in tin huts to punish them. I would also repeat noise, depending on what weld you are doing MMA requires the slag to be hit off which will ring nicely in one of those.

I have heard of containers being transformed into all sorts of things: mobile Ebola lab anyone? But the main reason for using them is that they are mobile and can be transported. Why do you want to use this container? As you can see from the comments it would require extensive and expensive modifications. Do you just require a shelter to keep the weather off? A lean-too type arrangement with a roof and no sides might be more useful.

All of the above!!
I had a similar instance where this exact scenario was set up. It created all the problems which have been mentioned above, confined space, heat, ventilation, noise.
Once it was discovered then it was closed down immediately.
I would strongly recommend that you go with your gut feeling and avoid like the plague.

As someone who occasionally engages in a bit of welding this sounds like a horrible idea for all the reasons mentioned above!
