Good afternoon all A complete long shot, but before I begin some digging - I have been approached by my client I have been consulting for who has landed a contract in Sweden, and has asked me to review his H&S Policy Documentation to ensure it is relevant to Swedish H&S Law. Can anybody point me in the right direction to conduct my research, in terms of law and legislation, if it is any different to the UK’s? Many thanks for your time Scott

Hi Scott, I would probably start out by looking at the Sweden page on the EU OSHA website - https://osha.europa.eu/en/about-eu-osha/national-focal-points/sweden, this refers on to the website for the Swedish Agency for Work Environment Expertise - https://www.mynak.se/

Scott, we provide H&S services to a UK based organisation to companies from Sweden etc. We support them through interpreation of UK laws. It is my understanding that they have more strict legisaltion rather than our risk based SFARP - in effect they go further. Many times have worked on projects in the UK and the visitors do not understand we have this SFARP and often want more in terms of physical protection. That said if you ahve the right under pinining knowledge you should be able to support them.

Hi Scott

In addition to the EU OSHA info from Steve, the ILO NATLEX site, if you search under Sweden and OHS, provides a wealth of info on laws, regs and similar subect matter to the UK-eg rights of workers, employers duties with a description of the national enforcement/administration regime and more. [Under the heading 'themes'].

You should be able to do a reasonable gap analysis

Regards

Scott, just finished some work in Finland which is a very similar set-up, hence many things required to be in both Fin +Swe languages.  As above, they have some very specific legislation for certain works, so whilst the UK approach will achieve (may exceed) the goals, there are times when I found it appropriate to include the fine detail of the legislation as well.   There is another post about hot works and in that the Fin have some very specific requirements that we might do as good practise but they do or exceed the UK  as a legal requirement.
