Morning All,
Having a bit of an issue trying to find some guidnace on what is the maximum allowed stepdown from a concrete slab etc on a construction site, off the top of my head I thought it was 450mm before the need to introduce steps, handrails or additional stone to reduce the height etc.
Any comments or links would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
When the height of a possible fall exceeds 500mm guard rails should be installed and when the gap between a platform, structure of a machine/wall is greater than 180mm.
With regards to climbing height of a step it all depends on the going, pitch, distance etc. and is a formula you would work out following British Standards. However, the above figures should give you a steer.

on scaffolding the maximum step up / hop up or hop down is 500mm.
a plasterers hop up is around 500mm.
