Hi,

Could i seek a little advice around RIDDOR.

Do i need to submit a RIDDOR report if;

A member of public and has paid to partake in an organised activity on our site. The person in question suffers a cardiac arrest and is pronounced dead on scene by members of the emergency services.

Would you have to submit a RIDDOR report? Bit of a tricky one. Can a heart attack be classed as an accident? Probably not, but it would be classed as a fatality on our site either way. The local authority look after our site and I would want them to be aware of the situation.

The activity in question does not require much physical exertion as such. Also unsure if the person had underlying or previous medical issues.

Feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear about this scenario.

No, this is not an accident and not RIDDOR reportable.

The only things you would need to do are to review your first aid response and offer support to anyone who has been affected by the incident.
