Hi, looking for an HSE contact or technical specialist to provide advice for the application of ALARP in non typical work situations. Someone who can discuss this with authority with a collective of SROs.

Hi kamack Welcome to the Forums. To add to what AK has asked, what would you consider to be "non typical work situations"? Your profile indicates that you are in the IOSH Hazardous Industries Group so possibly you might be considering how to work out what is ALARP at a major hazard site. But the relatively rare scenarios where an in depth ALARP assessment might be appropriate could extend to many other sectors and such an assessment might or might not involve e.g. a Quantified Risk Assessment.

SRO = programme senior responsible owner.
Non typical situations, I mean applying bespoke complex equipment in a range of environments. Where there won’t be ready read across to balance judgments against.

This is my go to guidance for ALARP https://www.hse.gov.uk/f...rmissioning/spc_perm_37/
It says"ALARP demonstration for individual risks is essentially a simple concept which can be satisfied by the Operator answering the following fundamental questions in relation to the identified MAH scenarios"
Question 1 - What more can I do to reduce the risks?
Question 2 - Why have I not done it?
Links to a couple of articles exploring the issues are available at https://abrisk.co.uk/safety-studies-alarp/
