Some site contractors identified that fittings and screws for 3 electrical distribution cabinets outside were heavily corroded. These cabinets are next to the sea and have been exposed to harsh elements. The cabinet itself has started to show signs of rusting/corrosion. I overheard team members saying they were intending to to order tarpaulin to cover the electrical cabinets and protect them from the elements and stop the worsening condition of the cabinets and the fittings. This is seen as a cost effective solution with the project having approx. 6 months left. We work overseas, and the outside temperature can reach mid to high 30s degrees Celsius, so the temperature inside the Tarpaulin could be considerably higher at times. Can anyone see any potential issues with this solution? When I heard this I was concerned with the cabinets and the high temperature within a Taurpaulin, but with limited technical electrical installation knowledge, I could not say for sure. If there is an issue, can anyone provide any potential alternative safer solutions that would prevent changing the cabinets out?
