Posted By Angela Wheatcroft David, Thanks for the opportunity to discuss this. The responses header indicates the original topic that is being replied to. So far, this is usually a repetition, as you rightly point out. The reason for it is that there is nothing to stop the respondant changing the subject header when responding i.e. picking up an aspect of the original topic. In this case, it is important to have the original referred to at the start of the response. The positive aspect is that the user has the freedom to change emphasis within a thread. I've done this above. The repetition is usually not obtrusive, but recently there have been some longer subject headers and these have made it more noticeable. It could be just a matter of people getting used to composing a title and/ or the option to respond about a particular aspect of the original.
