Posted By John Murphy To avoid re-inventing the wheel, I would be grateful if anyone has written terms of reference for a departmental safety committte that they are prepared to share with me. Thanks

Posted By Ed Carter John, If it is of use, our organisation operate Departmental safety groups. Their remit is, briefly as shown below; 1. Chair of the Group shall be the head of Unit or their delegated representative. 2. Membership consists of unit safety advisor and/ or Union safety representative. Additionally membership is also to comprise of a representative of each division within the unit. 3. Function of the group is to give initial consideration to health and safety issues brought to the group and, where possible, offer solutions where practicable. 4. Unresolved issues or other appropriate issues which may require a decision from the Strategic Management team are to be forwarded to the Organisation's health & safety committee. 5. The Group shall meet as necessary and at least once per quarter. 6. Copies of minutes are to be forwarded to the Organisation's health & safety officer. I hope the above may give you some ideas. Sincerely, Ed
