Role:
The role of the Head of Environmental Engineering is to provide technical assistance on environmental issues to the Atyrau Operations line departments on an as-needed basis, and to support the District Safety & Environmental Department to discharge its activities, as set out in the HSE Management System Manual (Document No. 455).
Main Accountabilities:
The Head of Environmental Engineering is accountable to the Head of the District S&E department for the quality and timeliness of his/her work, and for compliance with his/her conditions of contract and the Staff Handbook.
Main Responsibilities:
Manage the Environmental Engineering function, this involves:ยท
Day to day supervision of a small team of environmental engineers
Provision of environmental engineering support to the Operations line departments on an as-needed basis. This will often involve defining and researching problems and contributing to their resolution personally and/or by way of delegation to subordinates.
Preparation and submission of environmental permit applications and environmental performance/ monitoring reports to Republic of Kazakhstan authorities.
Definition of work scopes and management of contractors in the development or revision of projects that assist permit applications.
Interface and conduct negotiations, as necessary, with RoK regulators on environmental matters.
Supervise/assist in the preparation and implementation of environmental monitoring programs, related procedures, guidance notes, etc.
Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of an ISO 14001 Management System within AGIP KCO Operations.
Coach junior team members in departmental tasks such as the preparation of permit applications and environmental reports.
Undertake Emergency Response Team duties. Carry out internal HSE-MS audits and environmental reviews of work sites and project proposals as required.
Give presentations on environmental related topics as necessary.
Participate in, or lead, incident investigations.
Review and comment on Contractor supplied environmental related documentation, such as Project Design documents, HSE Cases, HSE Plans, etc.
Liaison with contractor environmental personnel to promote a “common vision”

Qualifications & Experience:
Degree/Masters qualification or equivalent in experience related to environmental issues.
Minimum of 5 years in an Onshore/Offshore Hydrocarbon related industrial environment, including a working knowledge of international environmental practices and regulations, permitting, monitoring, waste management, emergency response, incident investigation, analysis and reporting.
