Posted By Peter Hebblethwaite Good Morning Ian. I have been asking the same question recently. The general response appears to get a sponsor Company in the said country. With some countries, including possibly the states, additional qualifications to their regs may have to be taken- try the OSHA website or the ASSE- American Society of Safety Engineers, which I believe you can join from the UK. All the best for 2004 Peter Hebblethwaite.

Posted By Martin There is usually a body - I can't remember their title at the moment - in the host country who will establish equivalency of internationally achieved qualifications. You send them a breakdown of modules and topics etc that you have studied and they then provide a certificate or letter to the potential employer which proves you have qualified to their equivalent standard, whatever it might be. The previous respondent is right about joining the asse, and I know you can join the Canadian equivalent: csse.org from the UK, you then recieve their newsletter which is a good start in finding out about companies / contacts (although they don't have an appointments section like they do in the SHP - unfortunately). If anyone is interested I can dig out the name of the company who check equivalent qualifications. Cheers
