Posted By Robin Welch Tracy Its a bit like chicken and egg, no qualification, no job, no experience,no job. May I suggest that you offer to do free work experience, help out in a health and safety environment, this give you the opportunity to learn, get involved with live situations and gain some experience. With this under your belt you may have more opportunities for interviews and sell yourself for the job Good Luck Robin

Posted By Robert Paterson Hi Tracy. I can identify with you the difficulty in getting into Health and Safety environments. I have posted on other forums about the need for a database of workplace experience for people and companies looking for newly qualified or people like yourself wanting to break into the industry. The feed back was very encouraging and hopefully IOSH while take the idea onboard and develope it. Couldn't agree more with Robin's posting. Ihope you are considering carrying on with you education and gaining a diploma next. That would also help you to gain further knowledge. Good luck and I would suggest broaden your search to small companies who might not be able to afford H&S Consultancy but would welcome some advice on compliance with the law. Check you local area and spread the word. Try advertising in local newspapers. Some agencies might be able to help you as well. Find out the name of your local branch of IOSH and contact him with a request to help any members. Hope you find what you are looking for. Regards Robert Paterson

Posted By Tracey Arnold No matter what people say, the only way to get the experience is once you have completed the Gen Cert and find a job that offers on the job training and is looking for someone with a NGC. That's what I did.
