Secret to finding work - there is not one. but you can do a number of things to improve your chances of seeking the right role for you.
1) Be realistic - if you have 12 months Safety experience and a NEBOSH Certificate, don't apply for Group Safety Manager roles
2) Pester people, if you work alongside other companies, ask them if they would be interested in taking you on.
3) Write a focussed CV, you are a Safety Professional, sell yourself on your safety skills, the fact you work in Next 10 years ago is pretty irelevent, mention it briefly but don't spend 1/2 page doing it.
4) Speak to a number of agencies - SHP is a good starting point (ok I know were are not in there at the moment, but I am setting up an H&S division for one of the big construction agencies and we are booked for September onwards :) ).
5) Don't give up - Job offers / interviews tend to come like buses

I now know that magic secret. Pester Power! I'm good at that so I should have a great job by the end of the week!
Kind Regards,
