Posted By Jason McQueen I was wondering if anyone had information about working in HSE in the US? Obviously their legal framework is different, but I was wondering if there is anywhere that offers information on the courses/qualifications need, job vacancies etc etc. Thanks.

Posted By Mark R. Devlin Hi Jason, Assuming you are an RSP, a good first step would be to join the American Society of Safety Engineers. As RSP you get Professional Member status. www.asse.org

Posted By Phillip Linenschmidt in order to gain employment in the US as a safety officer, one must attend the OSHA 500 class, it is usely 1 week long, and it show how to read the CFR's, I would recomend contacting the OSHA training institute, their e-mail address is www.osha.ucsd.edu, or phone them at 1-800-358-9206 for more information, good luck

Posted By Hilary Charlton You might also want to look at the OSHA web site which contains all the rules and regulations. Everything seems to be very prescribed, right down to minutiae so the system is very very different from what we are used to over here. See if you can handle the difference before you commit to this.
