I am shortly due to leave the Royal Engineers after 16 years service. For the majority of this time I have been involved in construction work.

The type of construction projects has varied immensely, ranging from new builds and re-furbs to road construction, explosive demolition and diving operations.

I hold the NEBOSH General and Construction certificates and I am due to start my Lvl 4 Diploma shortly and I am very keen to pursue a future career in construction H&S. In addition I have training qualifications attained through the CiPD, and take pride in what I believe to be a sound ability to instruct/train others.

My reason for making this post is to ask assistance in securing a work experince placement with a construction firm, consultancy etc. I am hoping to use the one, or maybe two weeks that I have available to work with H&S professionals (at no cost)to help bolster my experiences before leaving the Military. My aim is to relocate to the Kent/London area, although location is not my top priority.

If anyone could help in any shape or form I would be very grateful. You can contact me directly if required (CV etc). tim.fletcher2@ntlworld.com

Regards,

Tim Fletcher

Hi Tim

The IOSH South East Branch may be of some use to you. They have a very active construction specialist group.

The next branch meeting is tomorrow evening - guess it might be too short notice for you to attend, but if you can make it you'd be welcome (see detials in branches page on this website)

If not I suggest that you contact the branch secretary (email simon.judd@brett.co.uk) and ask if he can put you in touch with the construction specialists.

Hope this is of use.

Sounds like you have some great skills and experience already, but good luck wiht the job hunting.

Louise

Hello Tim
I run a H&S consultancy/training company based in Kent. I am also ex RE and employ an ex REME (I don't hold it against him but he does tend to break things!!!). I also use two ex corps as associate trainers. Anyway, if you would like to get in touch - info@shemanagement.com
