June 2004 – Present, Styles and Wood, Royal Bank of Scotland, Manchester.
Employed as Site Safety Officer on a new built data centre for the bank, which has been run under the CDM Regulations. Duties include ensuring all contractors work to the site safety plan, checking risk assessments & method statement, carry out incident/accident investigation as well as near miss reports. Maintain the Health and Safety files, including O & M manuals, as built drawings, test certificates etc. Provide site inductions (1400+ to date), develop and deliver relevant toolbox talks. Liase with the client, contractors and sub contractors. Hold regular safety meetings and attend all relevant site meetings.

Employed as Site Safety Officer on a statutory outage being run under both CDM and NII regulations, duties included establishing site safety plan, producing site risk assessments & method statement, compiling QA Workpacks, carry out incident/accident investigation as well as near miss reports. Design a site-specific 10 part inspection-audit system. Establish a new COSHH file for the site; develop new emergency procedures for the outage period. Provide site inductions and toolbox talks. Develop and deliver training for safe removal of C.A.F joints, Safe Use of ladders, Confined Space Entry, and provide Qualitative Face Fit Testing for respiratory protective equipment. Build a positive team spirit on all QHSE matters. Develop strong links with the client and attend all necessary QHSE meetings. Liaise with all sub contractor personnel and maintain working partnerships, whilst monitoring QHSE effectiveness.

Working on the £100Million No 3 Reformer Project, which is a new build project on a brown field site, in the middle of Conoco’s Humber Bank Operations, I developed a new Permit to Work system for this project, which included designing the system, writing all procedures for the system and developing the in house training for all personnel involved with the new PTW system, I was also the Permit Controller on site. The system handles all work to be completed for the Reformer Project, including civil works and the heavy lift programme for the Pre Assembled Units and associated steelwork. I was involved with site accident/incident investigations, and formed part of the management site audit team. I compiled a new safety incentive scheme, which improves the knowledge of risk assessment and hazard reporting for all working on the project

Working as the Health and Safety Officer for site engineering, responsible for three sites, based in Harlow Essex, the other two sites being Welwyn Garden City and Tonbridge in Kent. Responsibilities included controlling site contractors, risk assessments, method statements, writing procedures, safety inspection and system auditing, safety training and presenting safety forums, safety reporting and accident investigation. Managing a team of four safety representatives, and liaison with client safety and engineering management.

Employed as a Health and Safety Officer responsible for a project in a large paper mill which produces specialty banknote paper. The project was completed in October 2002.
