Posted By Andy Bennett I need some clarification on grade of membership to apply for and CPD enrolement. I have already e-mailed IOSH but with no responce. I am currently 1/2 way through my Diploma 4, have previously held a position where I was responsible for department EH&S. My job role has changed in the last year ,more to a qaulity role. I am unsure if my present job role would afford me membership to IOSH. I have every intention of moving back into the H&S role (hence the Dip 4 course). I have remained active in H&S, by taking on additional work outside of my present job role. Any suugestions as to the level at which I should pitch my membership application ( I have attended numerous H&S In house courses and IOSH managing safely etc).

Posted By Sylvia Tyler Are you TechSP? If so you can apply for CPD. I don't think you are eligible until you have reached that stage of membership. Hope that helps. Sylvia

Posted By Pat Burns MIOSH, RSP - SpDipEM - AMIQA As I recall from my early days if you are currently a Tech SP Grade CPD is mandatory. Telephone the membership department and I am sure they will sort you out.

Posted By Craig Birse-Archbold Andy, You should register for CPD (even affiliates are encouraged to do this now). Once you have completed your Level 4 qualification you will be granted MIOSH status (until July this year). Thereafter you will enter as GIOSH, having to complete a 2 year CPD cycle prior to CMIOSH being granted. Depending on your other current qualifications, I would reckon you should enter as TechSP or Affiliate. Either way, as long as you pass your Level 4 you shouldn't worry too much. I joined as Affiliate, with Nebosh Cert. did the NVQ4 whilst completing my CPD and am now awaiting full MIOSH (and hopefully Chartered Status!). This is presuming the new membership structure is given the go-ahead. Speak to Louise Seal at IOSH. She will clarify. Hope this helps. Craig Birse-Archbold
