Can anybody help. I have a TUC Certificate in occupational health safety welfare & environment (equivalnt to the NEBOSH Dip part 1) a trained risk assessor, coshh assessor, able to carry out accident investigations and workplace inspections. I also have experience of writing safe systems of work and seven years experience as a senior h & s rep. I need to gain more hands on experience that will lead to a full time position, is there any volontary work out there especially at the week end. I lve just outside Chester. Please can anybody help

Andrew, You could try the local Constabulary, I think they are running a volunteer scheme at the moment

I would try the charity organisations in your area. If you can contact a manager and offer your services as a H&S person they don't usually turn you down unless they've already got someone - not many of them have though. Or try your local church - seen their electrics lately??
