Posted By Paul Leadbetter Jason My local council didn't want to know when I made the same enquiry; if you are working from home, you don't need to worry about OSR1. Paul

Posted By HissingSid Jason Paul is right. This form dates back to the Office Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 and is to enable local authorities/HSE to get to know where new premises spring up. It exempts; persons who are self-employed, or if you only employ close relatives, or if the total hours worked is less than 21 hours. If you are just working for yourslf - which at this stage, I assume is the case - then forget it. Also, an additional tip. Untill you turn over £55K per annum you do not need to register for VAT either. Though some clients will only employ persons who are. And, as I don't trade in the North East, good luck with the client hunting. HS
