Hello.
I have just sat the December NEBOSH exams for the construction certificate. I am happy with how my exams went (best of luck to everyone who sat them by the way), and now I'm looking at the next step. I wish to follow the NEOBSH Dip route (I feel this is best for me).
It has been suggested that I should get a job in a safety role first, and then move on from there with my studies (working in H&S, studying H&S). Unfortunately this conversation was in passing with a health and safety advisor, and I didn't have a chance to probe the remark.
I am lucky enough to work/live in London/South East where there is demand for people like myself with construction experience, so I imagine the move should be no problem. I had however intended to stay with my construction role, and study for the Diploma, but I now question this plan.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.

The general advice is to be in a H&S role as there will be a lot of things that you will be asked to learn that are best pictured whilst working in H&S. I also sat the NEBOSH Constrution Examination last week and am awaiting the results, and my experience in actually working as a H&S advisor helped me a lot. I imagine the need to be involved in what you learn whilst studying for the Diploma is even more so.
Good luck.
