Sorry to disagree with you but the Brecon Beacons are some of the best around, as is the scenery...having been to school in Brecon and lived in the area for some years I have the fondest of memories even when the area was in economic decline which happily is now being reversed and coming back into fashion following the dramatic demise of most of the mining industries and associated activities. I have walked most of the Beacons including the most famous of Pen-y-Fan and spent time on Sennybridge firing my way around the course...its a fabulous area with a lot going for it and is much in demand now due to high property prices elsewhere as it is easily commutable.....good luck Beacons, I remember you fondly.....if not without wincing in pain from my younger years !!!

It might be for a civvi, but when its feb and you have be out there for 3days and nights it is hell, agreed in the summer time when the sun is out and the sheep are bleating, and the sheperds can not be found, it is a wonderful place but not in the winter time.
Do I miss it?

Yeah, but "non-civvies" made the choice - I bet 3 days and nights in Tuavatu would be hell if you had to run around the place for that length of time!!
Moral of the story - stay "civvi" and enjoy all those beautiful places! :p

3 days on the brecons - As Monty Pythyon would say "YOU WERE LUCKY"!! spent weeks on there one Oct - Nov in the mid 70's. Whilst on the moors I thought it was the wettest, coldest, hilliest place God ever created. The military did not issue suitable wet weather clothing in them days, so I gave up trying to be dry after a few days and spent the entire time soaking wet and wondering what the H*** I was doing there.
"And if you tell that to the kids of today and they won't believe you"
Once the course had finished and we were dry, well almost and we had slept, I could look back and think what wonderful scenery, which it is.
