Posted By Carrie Ellerby Hi, I am currently studying for the NEBOSH National Diploma and do work in SHE in the Ryedale area but am looking to get out of my current company and advance into other industries with better prospects, an assistance role of sorts would be ideal. However, I live near Scarborough and am currently not looking to move but thought that it would be worth a shot to put the feelers out on here (as well as sending my C.V. to businesses in the area) to see if anyone in the area is looking to fill such a position. I have approx. 6 years experience in environmental management systems and have been involved with health and safety projects for approx. 2 years (although currently the only voice of "expertise" for H&S in our company and trying to do it all single-handedly!). I know that I am probably pushing my luck with looking in such a small location but if there is anyone interested in seeing my C.V. please get in touch and I will forward it on. Thanks, Carrie

Posted By Glyn Atkinson You may be advised to look at transit work along the A64 as a starting point, as York seems to be the area epicentre for safety vacancies, especially with any rail connections. There are few vacancies or suitable positions below the Humber even with the amount of industrial factories and few in the Hull area where I work now. As an idea for you, I currently commute forty miles each way every day, and previously commuted sixty five miles. This is the nature of lots of safety work - you have to look where the work is, not where you live! Perhaps registering with the well known agencies would be another way to find any work in your local-ish area?
