Hi,
I have booked myself on a course to complete the NEBOSH General Certificate, in May of this year and although this can be used as an additional bolt on qualification to make me more employable with my current employer but this job is not safe and reduncany looms, I would like to progress and change my current career from a logistics background and move into Health and Safety fulltime.
I understand that maybe years ago it was possible to find H & S employment with this base level qualification but is this still possible or would I need to complete the Diploma as soon as I could?
I fully intend to complete the Diploma within 12 - 24 months of finishing my general certificate (funding available).
Is it possible to find a H & S job with only the general certificate under your belt?
Location is not really an issue as I could relocate to any part of the UK for the right job.
Any advice for a new lad on the block would be most appreciated.
John

It is very possible to get a decent job and position with just a NEBOSH gen Cert, believe me ;) but you will need to be able to back this up with experience in H+S preferrably or some related field. Most importantly I feel is to be able to show your competance in the interview and be able to answer any question that they throw at you and more. This with just the Gen cert maybe difficult, depends on the H+S knowledge base you have.
