Posted By hayden hokianga hello, just having arrived from new zealand on a 2 yr working holiday,im really interested in taking the nebosh general certificate through the distant learning program with rrc and would like to be able to develope a career in h&s, is taking the gen nebosh cert the best start? how hard/easy is the distant learning course?? i have a limited knowledge in h&s, would this be the best way to start, so if any one could give this confused kiwi some advise it would be very much appreciated

Posted By D Whitelegg I took the RRC course a few years ago and found it excellent. Good notes and good support. If you do go this way then make sure you attend the revision days including the practical. NEBOSH are very specific in what they want and you need to learn this as well as the actual technical stuff. It's not a bad way to start in H&S and is well recognised. There's a good discussion on the pros and cons of the NGC on another thread on this site so worth looking at that as well. Good luck. Have to say I can never understand why you guys want to leave NZ though?

Posted By sonshine actually, think about looking at the NEBOSH site again with regard to the international certificate as it might be better for you in the long run if you plan to go back to NZ or even somewhere else......and i won't mention the rugby again as it must be a sore point only just having enough stadiums to scrape a tournament
