Posted By Michael Carroll Hi, I'm planing to advance my H&S career buy undertaking further studies. I hold the Nebosh Gen Cert and assumed the natural course to follow would be the Nebosh Dip. I have recently found out that the British Safety council have a diploma programme as well. could anyone make a recomendation for either? what is the diference between them both? After my Nebosh experience I think i'd like to give The BSC a go. Any comments would be appreciated

Posted By cfraser Hi, wondered the same as I have NEBOSH Dip1, NEBOSH is approx £1800 for diploma 6 but covers dip one and two, or there is a conversion course from dip1 to new diploma, the British safety council offer there Diploma it costs approx £3K both will give you membership at grad iosh I think. Dont know what pass rates are like for safety council diploma, but for NEBOSH its approx 30~40%, regards, Colin

Posted By Pamela L I had the British Safety Council as my training provider for NVQ 4. They offered an excellent service. Tutors are available when you need them, and visit you on-site and spend time. Having an NVQ4 opens so many doors. i.e. Membership to IOSH, MAPS etc etc. If you need any further information email me on info@hasi.co.uk Pamela

Posted By Dave Wilson Remember that NEBOSH and NVQ etc are courses in H&S and the BSC and IOSH are safety organisations and depending on what course you do at what level will depend on the 'level' of Membership of each.

Posted By Dave Wilson Depends on loads of things mate Time, Cost, Depth of study, which institute for membership, type of industry you wish to work in, nearest course, degree of competence of training provider and at what level you wish to attain are all things you need to consider. NVQ is an NVQ irrespective of course provider and so is NEBOSH etc

Posted By J Knight NEBOSH Level 6 and BSC Diploma are both Level 6 qualifications, and notwithstanding Dave's comments are equivalent. There are also other Diplomas on offer, the best known being the Nottingham Trent one, this is available as a franchise at other sites and is also Level 6. As such all these qualifications meet the academic requirement for GradIOSH and, with 2 years CPD and a succesful peer review, for CMIOSH, John

Posted By Paul Hay The new BSC level 6 diploma is recognised by IOSH as the same standard as the new NEBOSH level 6 diploma (not surprisingly!) One good thing about the BSC diploma is that they give credit to previous qualifications (NGC, Level 1 etc.) Regards, P.

Posted By S.Alder Just passed part 1 of the diploma , would highly recommend this course to anyone. It is certainly not a "gimmee" you will have to work hard to get the result that you want. Current pass rates from first examinations in january: Part1:65% Part 2:78% Go to the website. Full specification available FOC along with recent examination papers and chief examiners report. BTW i do not work for BSC but have really enjoyed this course so far.
