Posted By Janette Draper Hi everyone I have read recently a number of threads where people have had their CV's to CV consultants and had outstanding results from the newly re-vamped CV... I think mine needs re-vamping If you have had experience of such people please send me any details and costs and of course whether they did a good job and you have progressed because of it Thanks

Posted By Richard Stewart Any agency worth there salt will do it for free. TBH most of these companies make a CV look really flowery to justify their fee - companies / agencies generally like clear concise CV that state all relevant info rather than something that reads like a novel. Posted By bec_batty I agree with Richard. As long as you state your qualifications, experience, job titles and other relevant information clearly and concisely then long words and complicated syntax aren't necessary! Any decent Agency will ensure spelling and grammar is correct and that your CV is of the same calibre as you are as a Professional. Rebecca (Sanatio)

Posted By Alexander Falconer All very well and dandy an agency shouting from the rooftops saying they will review CV's for free and present to their clients in a clear and concise manner (in the best interests of the candidate) There are probably many HSE professionals who have gained employment successfully in this manner. Me, have found myself (through some unfortunate circumstances or another) having to resume career search 4 times in last 5 years, and utilised many of the agencies touting their services. Current score is 8 job offers on my own merit, own CV, and no job offers through agencies. Do whatever you feel is best for you, my secret is to sell yourself and expand on what you have achieved in your career, NOT what you can do.

Posted By Janette Draper Hi Thanks for your comments. I think that most agency's probably do alter the CV when they have got it and I just don't see it, maybe their altering it isn't helping!! Paul - what's your email address?

Posted By Raymond Rapp Tend to agree with Alexander. I have had numerous agenceies contact me over the last few years and thus far they have not even provided me with an interview. My last two jobs I have got through my own networking. That said, they must be providing jobs for others, otherwise they would not be in business for long. I always thought that a CV should be a 'snap shot' of your achievements etc and therefore concise. My Nephew recently sent me his CV and talk about all dressed up. I am told that it is the latest syle, but I cannot see it impressing a prospective employer sifting through dozens of CVs. Regards
