Posted By Trudy Sharp Hello,
We are shortly going to be advertising for a qualified Health and Safety Advisor (at least Grad IOSH plus experience, preferably CMIOSH) to cover maternity leave for 12 months. Has anybody got any suggestions of recruitement agencies that are either worth using or worth avoiding - I'd rather use a company that has come recommended than one selected blindly from SHP.
Thank you in anticipation of your replies.
Kind regards,
Trudy.

Posted By Bill Fisher This message has been locked as the Poster did not give an e-mail address on which to receive responses.
There are a number of Threads on the Forum at present where those responding give good and bad comment, and for that reason the Moderators will not permit a further Thread likely to encourage such responses to be opened.
If the original Poster would like an e-mail address to be posted then they can contact Neal Clark at IOSH HQ (0116 257 3100) who will take the necessary action.

Posted By snt I woud have thought your company HR dept should sort this out. How did you employed the one going on maternity. If you are still soliciting for recruitment agency on this forum, how long will it take you to decide on your selection criteria. If I were you, I will sack the HR manager right now, and send your requirements to me. It will cost you £5000.00 for doing your HR duty, £5000.00 for advertising, £10000.00 for getting you a candidate and £25000.00 for the advice.

Posted By Trudy Sharp Dear All,
I'm grateful to those responses I've had from recruitment agencies but I am really looking for recommendations of the service provided from clients rather than from the agencies themselves. Please don't take offense but I really would be grateful if the phone calls, emails etc from recruitment agencies could stop - I'm not yet in a position to advertise the post and I'm just trying to make initial enquiries into the experiences that other people have had with recruitment agencies so that we can then make a decision on which agency to use.
Ian - thank you for the suggestion but I'm afraid my hands are tied by my organisation - they are willing to allow me to use a specialist H&S recruitment agency but don't want me placing adverts through IOSH, IIRSM etc.
Kind regards,
Trudy.

Posted By bwestrik A new forum called badagencies.com has just been launched. It's about recruitment/employment but also about other types of agencies. The purpose of the forum is to share experiences with agencies and to offer people more guidance about which agencies to use and which not, do's and don'ts, what agencies actually do with your CV and details(you will be amazed)and other bad practice. A first number of posts is needed to get the forum going in at least a few sections. http://www.badagencies.comregister for free and share your views. Thanks.

In past years I have used the following agencies all to good effect:-
Safety Select Principle people Allen & York Ellis Fairbanks
There are also some sector specific ones that I could mention if you email me direct with your sector interest.
All though not all candidates they have put forward have gone thru to interview / selection, they have met the criteria I have specified to a large extent (sometime even coming up with almost perfect matches)
Dave
I also picked up on the neat way of getting around the AUGs - wish I had thought of it when I was looking!!
R
Bill

Posted By Neal Clark All,
This thread was originally started on 30 May, before the recent changes to the Careers forum were introduced.
Since this old thread has today received new contributions, it has moved back up the careers forum index and must therefore be re-assessed under our new guidelines.
To clarify, we do not allow recruitment agencies to post their own contact details on our forum - we feel that this would be a breach of Acceptable Use Guidleine 2 which states:
2. Users must not use the forums for any commercial purpose (including the advertising of jobs, goods and services)...
Instead we ask that recruiters contact the original poster privately by email to discuss commercial opportunities.
For the reasons described above, a nummber of additional posts have now been removed from this thread.
Many thanks,
Neal Clark, Web Co-ordinator.
