Hi All,
Can anyone clarify:
The forthcoming ban on career / job advertisements on this forum would mean that if, speaking hypothetically, I (as a potential employer) had a temporary post available for a few months, which may be mutually advantageous to the employer and to a fellow IOSH member, it would not be allowed to be posted on this forum.
Is this a correct assumption?

Got it in one... the Careers forum is no more..I actually know a parrot that has.. na.. forget it..
The Careers forum is no more in the 'old' sense of the word. But you can pay to advertise in the 'Safety & Health Practitioner' magazine.
" The Safety and Health Practitioner magazine offers the most comprehensive health and safety coverage in the UK. SHP has all the busy professional needs, with news, in-depth features, in court stories, the latest industry products and hundreds of appointments every month. SHP Online carries a selection of what's available in SHP, including news, a round-up of health and safety-related products and services, a summary of the features in the current issue and repeats the astonishing number of jobs advertised" Please contact Bryn McGeever on 020 7560 4227.

John, Not sure of the answer to your question, but would like to add the following for comment. We run training courses and every now and then I have spaces available at a good price for last minute delegates. This would be advantageous to both me (it fills my course) and the IOSH member (they get a god price reduction). There seems to be no facility at all for me to advertise these last minute spaces (threads of a similar nature get pulled). This seems unfair on the IOSH members, who could benefit. I already advertise in SHP on a monthly basis, and anyway these are time limited vacancies that are not suitable to monthly magazine deadlines.
Comments welcome please (including moderator comments)

Careers adverts etc are included on many environmental sites [and its all free]and actively encouraged - the difference between Health & Safety and environmental areas is noted again

Anyone out there with an amount of IT savvy?? Maybe there is a way that a web site could be set up to advertise jobs, etc. One where, within reason, all jobs, temporary and full-time can be posted, without 'censorship'. I would happily subscribe to a website like that. I was going to voice my opinions about the Careers Forum being blocked, but of course, I'm not allowed to!
Take care!

Hi John. Unfortunately your assumption is correct. However, there are a few sites where you can place job ads for free. I have found the following site to be useful: www.hsejobs.proboards92.com

To help with clarification, this is the current situation:-
1. IOSH has made a policy decision to stop free advertising of jobs available on this forum and is redirecting them to the SHP who have paid magazine adverts and website entries. This happens from the 4th July 2006.
2. Members who wish to indicate that they are looking for work or are seeking Career's advice will still be able to use this forum.
3. Advertising of courses directly ( even short notice) has never been permitted on the IOSH forums. It is however in order to respond to individuals on the Study Support Forum who are looking for information about courses.
