We have successfully used this forum to recruit over 10 staff, so I am getting in before the deadline!

We will probably be advertising in the August "Practitioner".

Jacobs Babtie, part of Jacobs Engineering Group, is a leading technical and management consultancy both in the U.K. and Ireland, and internationally.

We presently have a number of openings within our Health and Safety consultancy unit, which has tripled in size since 2001. We provide advice, audit and training services both on standalone projects, and as part of broader multi-disciplinary teams.

The diversity of Jacobs’s operations offers health and safety professionals [at all levels] the chance to take on a challenging workload that will enhance their career development.

Our workload is varied in sectors such as national/local government, construction, rail, healthcare, defence, docks, nuclear and manufacturing.

For example, we have term commissions to provide major clients with health and safety advice, training and “CDM” planning supervision. Other current commissions include projects to audit railway operators’ safety cases, to examine standards at hospitals, to provide incident reporting and investigation training at licenced nuclear sites, and to provide clients with advice on “major hazards” issues.

Our projects have been as far afield as Singapore, Ukraine and the Falkland Islands.

HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISERS
We are currently looking to fill a number of new positions, as indicated below, but expect to expand in other regions later in the year, so would welcome advance applications from health and safety professionals, including graduates, who are looking for exciting opportunities in other locations within the U.K.

DUBLIN or BELFAST , EXETER or BRISTOL, and READING
You are likely to have achieved at least MIOSH status [or equivalent], and will preferably be a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner.

Experience of auditing against legislative requirements, systems and workplace standards would be a distinct benefit, particularly if allied to experience of health and safety requirements in the construction sector.

Experience of the nuclear industry would also be advantageous for the posts based in the South West, and at Reading.

These vacancies offer the opportunity to become involved in a wide range of projects including major construction schemes, together with the provision of advice and training to clients in various sectors.

A relocation package may be available for the position in Ireland.

NEWCASTLE and SOUTH EAST ENGLAND
For these positions, you are likely to have achieved at least Tech IOSH status, or equivalent, though we would welcome applications from those seeking a more senior role.

Experience of the construction industry would be a significant advantage.

For the post in the South East, which will be initially site based, experience of the nuclear industry would be advantageous.

Benefits
We are an equal opportunities employer and offer a competitive package, commensurate with experience and qualification, together with a commitment to your ongoing professional development.

Applications
If you are interested in these opportunities, please submit your application to me at peter.gotch@jacobs.com

or by post to

Hi Peter,
'Need to have achieved MIOSH or equivalent', as a relatively recent graduate( GradOSH)with some experience (6 months) would there be any point in applying for the above positions?
