Hi all
I am 33 years old and have just recently completed a self funded mission to get most of the foundation H&S courses needed but now I need to acquire some working experience ideally in and around Manchester, Bolton and will consider any North West location to help me develop.
Courses done to date
Nebosh General Cert.
Nebosh Dip part 1.
Nebosh Dip part 2 exam results in Sept (de-stressed now).
Some smaller courses.
P402.
Internal Auditor.
7307 Microteaching.
My Working background is varied and wide but to be honest, it can be summed up with the following: -
Mainly shop floor levels in plastic production companies, construction, foundry and bulk liquid transfer which included working abroad. FLT and machinery operations = Extrusions, granulators, Power presses and many other common machinery items.
Safety Experience
A weak point from which I would like to improve however I have had a couple of junior roles within companies and even dabbled with some consultancy work so not too naive.
Aspirations
I ideally would like to work in one of the sectors that I have previously worked in and to be absolutely honest, I much prefer to be out in the field rather than office based and corporate minded. Maybe that area in 5 years time but I do feel I am best served starting from bottom and working up.
Skills
Good humour and skills with people.
Good PC skills all round.
Dedication to the role.
Ability to also see things from bottom up within organsiations.
No fears of training groups of people.
Good customer service skills.
Lots of other skills yet to be focused in on.
Pay Expectations
Within my chosen area, I would be looking at ideally getting a position that is wide, varied and challenging with occasional travel to various sites. Construction is an area I would enjoy as well as heavy manufacturing. I am willing to negotiate pay dependant on potential learning opportunities but anything less than £18000 is a no go (I have to get some money back lol).

Now going slightly off topic.
Is there any safety professionals here working in the construction industry whom are in the Manchester/Bolton area and whom could possibly allow me to shadow them for a couple of days to get a better perspective of what is involved in that area. Whilst in a fixed environment, I have been able to get a feel of what goes on, In construction roles, I have rarely had the chance to chat to those involved in safety mainly because most places I have worked have never been big builds.
Thank you all
Jason
