Posted By Umer P Hi,
I have finished my first year of university. I am just looking into different careers and I came across the health and safety field. My degree is related to transport and I just wanted to know what kind of work is involved in the health and safety field in the transport industry as well as in the non-transport related industry? And why people get into that kind of work?
Cheers!

If you read sections 2-9 of the health and safety at work act 1974 then you will realise what it is all about.
That is the foundation to all other pieces of leglislation and there are reams and reams of them.
Hopefully, it will give you an insight into why it is taken seriously.

Posted By Umer P Ok that's fine...I am not saying it's not something serious, I appreciate its significance, but obviously to an extent because I do not know what kind of work a health and safety manager or consultant does. I just wanted to know from people's personal opinions that are involved with the health and safety related work, what made them want to get involved? And as you said the health and safety act 1974, it is very long, I just want the gist of what kind of work is involved?
Thanks and I hope to hear from more people!
