Posted By Diane Can anyone help ? I wonder if anyone would mind forwarding a sample of any risk assessment report formats that you use. I have one that is probably much more complicated for the reader than is required. They do actually need to understand what they're reading after all don't they ! I'd just like to put one together that's more user friendly. Thanks very very much in advance for any assistance !!

Posted By sylvia Who IS the reader? RA records are intended to be "management tools" to act as a starter for making sure that appropriate systems are in place. Therefore managers, supervisors, assessors, specialists, are the audience for such a document. See HSE website - RISK MANAGEMENT - the good old 5 steps - for the simple example. If one of the RCM (risk control measures) is giving staff information, that should - in my view - be done separately, so that the specific needs and language of the audience can be met. Management regs - information (to employees) must be given in a clear and understandable format. However, a compromise would be in the use of the HSE model or derivitive, which - if completed in full and proper english rather than management / safety speak and bullet points - could serve both. I have seen - and done - perfectly good summaries of assessment findings in plain old memo format "telling a story".
