It all depends on what your role entails, what your responsibilities are and how much your employer is prepared to pay for your knowledge and experience...

NEBOSH Certificate is a qualification aimed at supervisors and safety reps so if you managed to find work as an assistant in a very low risk environment then I would say around the £18K mark.

Jack it sounds like you have a bit of experience in safety.
Im a Supervisor on a Top Tier COMAH site and our Safety advisors are in a range from around 24k to 35k.The Nebosh GC is the accepted qualification for this position.
There is no chance at all of anyone your age with no experience of industry even being considered for an interiew for a position here.
I would suggest you get some real life job experience in an industrial or construction setting. This would then show that the knowledge you have is not just what you have studied but actually experienced.
I would take a person with a pass at General Certificate level and techIOSH status anyday over a person with a high distinction but not entitled to techIOSH status
I have the GC and with my experience have techIOSH status. This is not necessary for the position I hold now but it proves my qualification is backed up by experience something you lack at the moment.
I suppose this is my long winded way of saying dont expect too much.

Mark,

I hope you do not speak for the organisation as that would be "ageist£ I think lol. Whata nightmare.

Top Tier COMAH site where the 12 day NEBOSH Certificate is the accepted qualification for safety advisors?

I find that remarkable!

Im sorry I should have qualified that statement. The GC plus years of on site experience. All our safety advisors are vastly experienced people who have dealt with real world situations time and time again.
They are mostly ex safety reps.
I would think although I dont know for certain, that if recruitment was done externally the "paper"qualification would be a lot higher than the GC.
They also continue their studies after being appointed.
The point Iwas unsuccessfully trying to make is that experience counts.
and yes it probably is ageist :-)
