Anyone taken the German TuV Safety Course?

Posted By Richie I have a long-term ambition to live and work in Germany, having had a good experience there whilst in the Army.
I shall (touch wood) be CMIOSH in January, however I am led to believe this will not help me in finding H&S based employment in Germany, as German firms care less for institutional memberships and more for qualifications, the only qual. in demand being the TuV course.
If anyone has taken the course, could you let me know your thoughts on level of attainment and how you found the course (especially if you managed to find an English speaking provider...)
Many thanks in advance,
Richie

Posted By Jonathan Breeze Richie, I can't answer your question but have you seen the following link in the news section of the site?: http://www.iosh.co.uk/in...m?go=news.release&id=324It will provide food for thought with regard to the acceptability of Chartered Status in other EU countries.

Posted By nw Richie, the qualification you´re looking for is "Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit". There is a number of training institutions out there doing the course, both public institutions and private providers, there are a number of other options available, not only the TUV´s. Prices vary but it´s a minimum of 8 weeks. The course will be in German and in a job in Germany you will in 99,8 % of the cases be required to be more or less fluent in German, there might be jobs out there with the Allied Armed Forces but very limited. Regards, Norbert

Posted By Manny Richie,
The German Safety Adviser Course is actually 12 weeks (6 weeks class work and 6 weeks workplace study). You need to be aware that even if you take the course, and pass it, you may still not be recognised in Germany as a safety Adviser, you will need to meet the requirements of the German Legislation on the employment of safety advisers (Arbeitssicherheitsgesetz). The other option mentioned was working for the forces in Germany but with the closure of major Garrisons there are very few places available.
Not a lot of help, sorry
Manny

Posted By Manny Richie,
One of the Garrisons in Germany may be looking for a Safety Adviser shortly. If you contacted each of the Garrison Labour Support Units they will be able to help and provide you with information.
